The Bard of Barking Walking Club

The Bard of Barking Walking Club is trying to promote the ‘Three Feathers Walks’ consisting of three walks in the Northern National Parks, after completion of which the participants can purchase a rather attractive badge.

We feel that it is walk which may appeal to the energetic walker as it is a series of three long walks, to be completed within a calendar year — this makes it rather unique.

The story of the initiation of these walks would make rather interesting reading. It all began with failure of three group members to complete the Three Peaks of Yorkshire and consequent harassment of the said members by the mysterious ‘Bard of Barking’, who sent three white feathers as a mark of cowardice and various poems from different parts of the country goading them to change failure into success. Victory achieved, the three white feathers were returned and subsequently the identity of the Bard was revealed.

We thought you would appreciate the enclosed details of our walk, which we hope you will find interesting. One of those Bard victims still has a portfolio of these poems and would be more than willing to let you see them if necessary.

We look forward to hearing from you.
